Let's talk about dull solder lines... Sometimes solder will oxidize and turn powdery white or dull. In these cases they need to be cleaned and polished again. This is how I clean and polish oxidized solder.
Note: If your piece has been patinaed, do not proceed. You do not want to remove the patina.
Clean your piece thoroughly using Dawn Dish Soap, baking soda and a soft bristle brush (for more information check out the "Keep it Clean" blog post).
After your piece is clean, use a Magic Eraser to gently scrub your solder lines. Do not use abrasives on your glass or solder to avoid scratches.
Rinse your piece thoroughly after using the Magic Eraser then dry thoroughly. I really really like to use Turkish Hand Towels for drying my pieces. They are very soft, very absorbent and easy to clean.
When your solder lines are shiny and bright, finish by polishing (for more information, check out the "Shine it Up" blog post).
That's it! Now your piece is free from oxidation again.
